Matilda

Registered Midwife and Nurse Practitioner

Hi, I’m Matilda! I’m a Registered Midwife and Nurse Practitioner living and working in sunny Queensland. I’m also a wife, mama to 3 little people and last year published my first academic paper.

I absolutely love to learn and have been doing so almost continuously since I left school. I have a Bachelor of Nursing, Masters of Midwifery, Masters of Nurse Practitioner Studies, Grad Cert in the Medical and Forensic Management of Sexual Assault and in August this year will complete my Masters of Women’s Health Medicine.

I have worked as a midwife in a major tertiary hospital, in the land of private midwifery and home birth and in rural western Queensland. I am currently on maternity leave from my hospital work but most recently I have been working in an Emergency Department as a Nurse Practitioner, where I am predominately found caring for women with concerns in their early pregnancy or with pelvic pain, sexual health and other women’s health concerns. I have worked with a lot of women who have suffered from sexual assault and have had extensive training in trauma-informed care.

I am very passionate about holding space for women to be seen and heard and know that their experience is valid. I fundamentally believe that you are the expert of your body and baby and that you and your body are full of innate wisdom.

I have personally navigated the path of pregnancy, birth and postpartum 3 times and fully understand all the mental and physical hurdles that can come along. I have completed all 3 of the Core and Floor programs and have done several rounds of B’s coaching program and am thankfully now healed from any incontinence (that started pre-pregnancy) despite having a posterior prolapse.

I love to swim in the ocean, get to a dance class and be with girlfriends eating excellent food when I’m not with my family, studying or working with women.

Birth Preparation

Birth preparation is the process of mentally readying yourself for birth. There are many things you can do and think about to give yourself a positive, empowering birth experience. I am a highly experienced midwife in both hospital and home birth settings. I would love to help you prepare for your upcoming birth.
