Since 2016, Only For Me has been gently teaching tens of thousands of young children, about body safety and consent, helping them to identify inappropriate behaviour, especially in the earlier stages of the grooming process and giving them the confidence to speak up and respond appropriately.

Body Safety Education is essential because:

• Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a very REAL & PREVALENT, cutting across all demographics of society*;

• In most cases it will involve a gradual grooming process by someone KNOWN to the child, quite often a RELATIVE;

• It may also occur when your child is interacting with other children or friends (playdates, playgrounds, swimming lessons etc.), as a significant number of cases of CSA is carried out by OTHER CHILDREN/YOUNG PEOPLE (who have been traumatised themselves);

• Horrifically our children are at risk even as babies and toddlers, so education needs to start early.

• We can't be with our children of every moment of every day - therefore it is essential that we educate and empower our children to IDENTIFY, RESPOND & COMMUNICATE about body safety issues.

*In Australia, it is estimated that 1 in 5 children will experience some sort of sexual harm before their 18th birthday - that is 5 kids in every typical primary school class of 25 children, with 90% of victims being abused by someone known to them. See CSA Facts & Statistics for more details.

First and foremost, Michelle is a stay-at-home mum to four children aged from 8 to 17 years. However, she is also a passionate child protection advocate, author, writer and speaker.

She is a regular contributor for one of Australia’s leading parenting websites Kiddipedia and is often asked to share her knowledge and insights across a range of parenting publications and podcasts. However, her main focus is facilitating adult workshops and webinars through daycare centres, schools and other community groups, where she helps parents understand the reality of childhood sexual abuse and how to have effective body safety conversations with their young children.

Michelle’s journey into child protection began in 2014, when she heard about two separate cases in her immediate community, where young children had been sexually abused by children their own age. So horrified by what she heard, she decided to create a resource for parents to help them educate their young children about consent and body safety. After two years of research and consulting with expert professionals Only For Me was released in 2016 to critical acclaim.

Whilst Michelle does make a profit as the publisher of Only For Me, she have pledged to donate the amount that she would normally make as the Author (i.e. Author Royalties) to those organisations involved in treating and preventing child abuse. To-date she has donated over $20,000 to various child protection organisations and over $30,000 worth of books to families, organisations and schools.
